SEED MONEY CRITERIA & PROPOSALS
  • That the project be innovative and/or unique; that the seed money be used as "start up" funds.

  • The project have some universal/global value for our membership.

  • That the project provide opportunities for networking or for regional development.

    (It is noted that not ALL criteria might be necessary or even possible for any one project.)

  • That proposals reflect the BCACEA mandate, which is:

    • Playing an advocacy role by actively informing the public and institutions of current activities and advantages of CE.

    • Maintaining working relationships with all bodies concerned with adult, community and continuing education.

    • Keeping an open, active relationship between CE administrators and the education ministries.

    • Developing, maintaining and coordinating channels for the exchange and discussion of ideas, methods and techniques.

    • Assisting members to become better informed and more proficient in programming skills, in organizing and identifying needs and resources in communities.

    • Stimulating interest in other professionals in opportunities and advantages of CE.

 
AWARDS CRITERIA

AL CARTIER AWARD

Outstanding contribution lending itself to provincial applicability in the field of adult education for any of the following categories: teaching, research, innovative program(s) or pilot project.

ALL recommendations must be in writing at least one month prior to this year's Conference date with a supporting letter describing the contribution category of the individual suggested. Send nominations to the President.

LIFE MEMBERSHIP

ALL nominations shall be made in writing with supporting letter detailing the contribution of the individual nominated.

Life Membership is an honour which may be extended to members of the Association who have been regular members and (1) are leaving regular membership for retirement or job change and (2) who have developed important program innovations which others have emulated and/or (3) gained significant political, financial or public support for Adult Education - above and beyond that assumed as normal professional competence. A Life Member can vote at a general meeting and can hold office in the Association.

HONOURARY MEMBERSHIP

ALL nominations shall be made in writing with supporting letter detailing the contribution of the individual nominated.

Honourary Membership is an honour which may be granted to members who have made an outstanding contribution to the welfare of the Association and/or continuing education and have exemplified high standards of professionalism in both Association and community activities. May also be granted to non-members who have contributed significantly to Adult Education and social education through program development or through gaining enhanced public acceptance of these fields. Honourary members cannot vote at a general meeting and cannot hold office in the Association.

Note: A Life membership is deemed more distinctive than Honourary and will be awarded only to regular members of the Association.
