Unleashing Your Brain’s Potential
The brain is different than other organs of the body. Many organs wear out with repeated and sustained use, however, the brain actually thrives on challenge. Use it or lose it is something that all brain researchers believe is very true.

In this workshop we will look at 20 or more strategies that we can use to improve our brainpower. These are practical things that all teachers, support staff and administrators can use to exercise their brains. You can also pass on these ideas to your students and your own children.

Robert Aitken is with the Centre for Instructional Development at Vancouver Community College. He has a MEd in Curriculum and Instruction. He is a doctoral candidate in Adult Education. He travels extensively working with faculty in colleges and schools, leaders in corporations, government and non-profit organizations to help them realize the value of brain research to teaching, working, leading and living.

Emotional Intelligence At Work

You will learn to ‘decode’ and respond constructively to the emotionally-driven comments and behaviours of colleagues and clients. You will develop effective listening skills and learn to avoid the subtle ‘miscommunications traps’ and obstacles to effective interactions.
Dr. Jason Cressey gained his PhD in psychology at Oxford University, UK. He specializes in the areas of body language, social skills, interpersonal relationships and cultural differences. Following a desire to make academic research findings both accessible & useful to a wide an audience as possible (beyond his university teaching), Jason created the Motivation in Mind workshops, dealing with a variety of personal empowerment topics.
